NBA lottery pick potential

He first exploded onto the global basketball radar with a stellar performance at the Under 18 European Basketball Championships.  At this tournament, Alex Len posted incredible numbers and averaged 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks.  In a game against Germany, Len was one block shy of an amazing triple double.

He is a key member of the Maryland Terps and is team leader in points, rebound and blocks.  His college profile can be found at this link at UMTerps.com.

Having bulked up and worked hard over the summer of 2012, Alex Len has dominated low post opponents with an array of basketball skills rarely seen in someone of his stature.  On opening night of the season, Len destroyed highly rated Nerlens Noel.  Noel was torched by 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks by an on fire Alex Len.

Alex Len was named ACC player of the week.  In doing so, he became the first Ukranian basketball player to achieve this award.  As described by the Washington Post:

“Len was named the ACC player of the week following a 23-point, 12-rebound breakout performance at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, also matching a career high with four blocks on the national stage in the Terps’ 72-69 loss to the third-ranked Wildcats.

Seven of Len’s rebounds came on the offensive end, and he shot 10 of 18 (55.6 percent) from the floor, displaying a dazzling array of dunks, spin moves and even a feathery 18-footer from the left wing that splashed through the net. The Ukrainian product, boasting new strength and added confidence, outshined even Kentucky’s best.”

Many basketball experts are projecting Alex Len as a 2013 NBA lottery pick.  NBA Draft has Alex Len touted to be taken at number 7 in the draft and as the number 1 pure center to enter the league.
